Trinity 5K to Benefit Healing Hearts

Local athletes are invited to put on their running shoes and come out for a 5K Road Race hosted by Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, on October 2, 2010, 9:00 a.m., to benefit The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families.

After a break of four years, Holy Trinity has restarted its popular Annual Road Race. The event features a new course with an out-and-back loop on the west side of Danbury that will start and finish at Holy Trinity Church, 74 Joe’s Hill Road.

 The race kicks off a weekend of activities to celebrate Holy Trinity’s 100^th anniversary. “We are expecting to host a great group of runners making it a race of family fun and friendly competition,” says Father Luke Mihaly, pastor. There will be more at stake than just a competitive race—winners will receive Matroiska Nesting Dolls. All participants receive an event t-shirt and there will be delicious home-made perogies for the after race party.

Proceeds from the Trinity 5K will benefit The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families, a program of Regional Hospice. This nationally-recognized, award-winning program touches the lives of more than 1,000 adults, children and teens each year. Healing Hearts, located at 73 Stadley Rough Road in Danbury, offers support groups, workshops, social groups, special events, one-on-one, family or group counseling, volunteer visits, and community support--all facilitated by professional bereavement staff. There is no charge to bereavement support participants.
