Area Clergy Invited to Discuss Spiritual Care at the End of Life

DANBURY, CT— How do spirituality issues emerge during an illness, and how can they complicate or facilitate end-of-life care and grief?

Area clergy are invited to attend the next “Clergy to Clergy” workshop on “Spiritual Care at the End of Life,” hosted by Regional Hospice and Home Care’s Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m., with lunch provided. The event is the third in a series of workshops designed to provide members of the clergy with the opportunity to discuss support for families, caregivers and others impacted by the losses experienced in life.

The conversation also gives area clergy the chance to support each other in their vocation. “It is important for us to start the conversation about death and loss, to support each other, and to share information that will be helpful to the community,” said The Rev. Carolyn Legg, Regional Hospice and Home Care chaplain.

The Rev. Legg will facilitate the workshop with Elaine Sleath, who is also a chaplain for Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT. The Rev. Legg has extensive experience supporting patients and families during periods of loss. She is a certified trainer and group facilitator and has completed education for pastoral education certification. She earned degrees from Fairfield University, New Haven University and Hartford Seminary.

The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families, located at 73 Stadley Rough Road in Danbury, has received national recognition for its unique bereavement programs and services for the community, including numerous support groups, workshops and programs provided to the public throughout the year.

For more information or to register for this upcoming event, please contact The Rev. Legg at (203) 702-7425 or preferably clegg@regionalhospicect.org by January 27. 2012.
