Home Hospice Care

Any person with a terminal illness, regardless of age, is eligible for our hospice care programs. Home Hospice Care comes to you, wherever you reside–your home, assisted living residence, or skilled nursing facility.

A distinguished nonprofit hospice provider since 1983, Regional Hospice walks alongside East Haven patients and their loved ones enabling those in our care to focus on what matters: living fully when facing life-limiting illness. Patients of all ages―from babies to adults―in private homes, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities in four Connecticut counties benefit from our services. Our Danbury Center for Comfort Care & Healing is the first residential hospice center of its kind in Connecticut, offering all the comforts and amenities of home to patients throughout East Haven.

Home Hospice

We provide patients who are in need of hospice care with emotional, spiritual, and medical support in the comfort of their East Haven homes. We can come to you in your home, assisted living facility, or nursing home.

Inpatient Hospice

With Connecticut's only state-of-the-art private suite hospice center in Danbury, we are happy to provide our patients with high-end accommodations, gourmet meals, and quality care and therapies.

Pediatric Care

Compassion and care for babies, children, and their families who are affected by a terminal condition. Both prenatal and pediatric hospice care is provided to our East Haven patients.

Who We Are and Why We Serve East Haven?

Since 1983, Regional Hospice has provided care choices for terminal patients and their families during the sacred end-of-life transition. Our Center for Comfort Care & Healing is the first hospice residence of its kind in Connecticut and is available to anyone in the U.S. East Haven residents benefit from 24/7 clinical care in private suites with screened in balconies, wood furnishings and chef-prepared custom meals. The Center replicates the comforts of home, where loved ones can focus on quality time together.

We have professional staff members who can come to your East Haven home or facility or we can invite you into our home, the Center for Comfort Care and Healing in Danbury. Here at Regional Hospice we are here to provide your loved one with exceptional hospice care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We have a team of physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, hospice care aides, and trained volunteers who abide by high standards and follow specific treatment plans for each patient. With individualized treatment we can better manage our patient’s pain and symptoms.

Compassion, Peace and Dignity
Not only will we support your loved one, but you and your entire family as well. We have special services for different needs, whether they are emotional or spiritual, and aim to help the family as a whole through this difficult time. Your loved one will be treated with dignity and their wishes will be respected by all.

Comfort Versus Curative
Hospice care should be considered when a terminal prognosis of 6 months or less is given, or a child is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. Regardless of their disease or care needs we will provide high quality services with an empathetic human connection.

A Doctor’s Referral is Not Necessary
Hospice can can be requested by anyone. In some cases referrals are made by family, friends, hospitals, medical facilities, or clergy members. You will admitted under a doctors orders and can find all needed services with us. To make it even easier we have created an online hospice referral form that can be filled out on our website.

Hospice is Affordable
It’s important to us that hospice care is affordable to all. Our hospice services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private health insurances. There is no need to take time worrying about finances when your focus should be on your loved one.

Home Hospice Care in East Haven

Our skilled nurses and trained professionals can come to you throughout the East Haven area. We are equipped to provide care in your home, assisted living facility, or nursing home.

Commonly Asked Questions

Many diagnoses are considered: Alzheimer’s and related dementias, pulmonary and cardiac diseases, and cancer.
Hospice Care is a covered benefit under Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurances.
Special services like speech, physical and occupational therapy are available when needed.
Our support line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for symptom management; medications and equipment as well as emotion and spiritual support.

For some, our hospice care will be conducted in a skilled nursing or assisted living facility that is under contract with Regional Hospice. We have trained volunteers available to take over for caregivers when needed. These volunteers can provide companionship, run errands, and provide certain therapies.

Inpatient Hospice Care

We understand that caring for a loved one during their end-of-life care can be difficult, and sometimes staying at their home just isn’t the best option for them anymore. Our Inpatient Hospice Center in Danbury is available to all who are in need of exceptional hospice care. We have ammendenties for both our patients and their families.

Food is a universal source of comfort, and we take this to heart here at The Center for Comfort Care and Healing. Chef Jonathan LeFebvre and his remarkable kitchen staff can create custom dishes for you and your family.

Perinatal & Pediatric Care

We provide an outlet of love and kindness to our youngest patients who deal with daily hospital trips and countless hours with doctors. Our Pediatric & Perinatal Hospice Program help provide both the patient and their family with physical, emotional, and spiritual support. We are right alongside our East Haven families throughout the entire journey from pregnancy to remembrance.

Our Pediatric & Perinatal Hospice care includes instruction in caring for young ones at home, consistent visits with a healthcare professional, and help connecting with local resources during this difficult time.
