Home Hospice Care

Any person with a terminal illness, regardless of age, is eligible for our hospice care programs. Home Hospice Care comes to you, wherever you reside–your home, assisted living residence, or skilled nursing facility.

A distinguished nonprofit hospice provider since 1983, Regional Hospice walks alongside Oakville patients and their loved ones enabling those in our care to focus on what matters: living fully when facing life-limiting illness. Patients of all ages―from babies to adults―in private homes, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities in four Connecticut counties benefit from our services. Our Danbury Center for Comfort Care & Healing is the first residential hospice center of its kind in Connecticut, offering all the comforts and amenities of home to patients throughout Oakville.

Since 1983, Regional Hospice has provided care choices for terminal patients and their families during the sacred end-of-life transition. Our Center for Comfort Care & Healing is the first hospice residence of its kind in Connecticut and is available to anyone in the U.S. Oakville residents benefit from 24/7 clinical care in private suites with screened in balconies, wood furnishings and chef-prepared custom meals. The Center replicates the comforts of home, where loved ones can focus on quality time together.

Why Choose the Regional Hospice Center

Receive Regional Hospice’s remarkable and convenient hospice services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We can come to you at your Oakville home or nursing facility, or invite you to ours at the Center for Comfort Care and Healing.

Physicians, registered nurses, social workers, chaplains, hospice care aides and trained hospice volunteers follow care plans individually designed for each patient. We focus on the individuals symptoms, condition, and pain levels to create a plan of action. We may also suggest certain therapies like speech, physical and occupational.

Comfort Versus Curative
After a terminal prognosis of 6 months or less has been made, or if a child is suffering from a life-limiting illness, our hospice services should be considered. We are here to help both the patient and their family through this difficult time.

A Doctor’s Referral is Not Necessary
Anyone may request hospice care, we offer patients an online referral form for their convenience. A patient is typically referred by a hospital, clergy, family, friend or other home care agency and will be admitted under a physician’s orders.

Hospice is Affordable
Hospice care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private health insurances, letting you and your family focus on providing expert care for your loved one.

Home Hospice Care in Oakville

Many diagnoses are considered: Alzheimer’s and related dementias, pulmonary and cardiac diseases, and cancer.

Our support line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for symptom management; medications and equipment as well as emotion and spiritual support.

For our patients who are currently living in an assisted living facility, we will create a contract through Regional Hospice to monitor the patients development. This normally involves trained and trusted volunteers to help our local caregivers.

Inpatient Hospice Care

For some, staying at home to receive hospice care is no longer an option, this is where we step in with our quality inpatient services. At our Inpatient Hospice Center in Danbury we accommodate our patients and their families while providing top medical care and respecting each patient’s goals. We do everything we can to create a calming and comfortable atmosphere here at The Center.

Chef Jonathan LeFebvre and his kitchen staff are always busy befriending patients and cooking up delicious gourmet meals. We believe in making your loved ones stay with us as comfortable as possible, and nothing says comfort more than their favorite meal.

Perinatal & Pediatric Care

Our Pediatric & Perinatal Hospice Programs provides assistance to the entire family from pregnancy to birth, to remembrance. We provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support to Oakville families whose babies are suffering from an advanced illness or have died.

Pediatric & Perinatal Hospice care can help provide instruction on caring for your baby at home, connect you with experienced healthcare professionals, and connect you with community resources for further support.
