(Danbury, CT) On Tuesday, November 24, 2015, Senator Chris Murphy, United States Senator for Connecticut visited Regional Hospice and Home Care’s New Center for Comfort Care & Healing.
Murphy, who was elected to the Senate in 2012 serves on numerous committees; the Appropriations Committee, the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, and the Democratic Steering & Outreach Committee.
Senator Murphy was able to get a first hand look at how the new Center for Comfort Care & Healing provides comfort to those in need. The Center has provided services to over 400 patients ranging in ages from 25 to 110 since it opened this past February, 2015.
Senator Murphy stopped and chatted with a family, in their room decorated for the holidays. The patient praised how much support the Center had given them when they needed it most. They stated over and over how much compassion each and every staff member has provided them, whether it’s the delicious food from the kitchen staff or the tremendous care from the nurses & Certified Nursing Assistants.
Regional Hospice and Home Care’s team of experienced clinicians have been providing physical, emotional, spiritual and bereavement support to children, adults and their families through our palliative and hospice care program for the past 30 years. Regional Hospice and Home Care is a nonprofit, state-licensed and Medicare-certified home health care and hospice agency. Now, with the opening of our new private-room, specialty hospital for palliative and end-of-life care — the Center for Comfort Care & Healing — Regional Hospice and Home Care can bring that same hope and compassionate care close to home and under one roof.
